CARES Act: Opportunities for Philanthropy

Join us for a webinar where we will explore tax implications of the CARES Act and how this legislation creates opportunity for endowment as a solution for fulfilling philanthropic goals. The Catholic Community Foundation will be joined by Nancy Moriarty, Tax partner at Frank, Rimerman + Co., who will speak about the provisions of the legislation that impact philanthropy, and Erik Dryburgh, Principal at Adler & Colvin, who will discuss endowments, broadly and in light of this legislation. Mary Quilici Aumack, CEO of the Catholic Community Foundation, will speak about family endowments as a unique and effective way that families can take full advantage of this legislation while creating long-term financial support for organizations they love.

Nancy Moriarty is a Tax Partner at Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in providing income and estate planning to high net worth individuals and closely held businesses. Her expertise also includes stock option planning and advising clients on tax efficient methods for diversification of their concentrated equity positions. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).

Erik Dryburgh is a principal in the law firm of Adler & Colvin, a law firm specializing in representing nonprofit organizations and their donors. He has an undergraduate business degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and earned his J.D. at the University of California Berkeley School of Law. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Erik’s areas of expertise include charitable gift planning, not-for-profit organizations, donor-advised funds and endowments. Erik has authored the chapter “Charitable Remainder Trusts,” in California Estate Planning, Continuing Education of the Bar (2002) and published numerous articles on charitable gift planning.

Mary Quilici Aumack is the Chief Executive Officer of the Catholic Community Foundation where she has helped further the Foundation’s mission of creating FOREVER VALUE for the past 10 years. Prior to joining the foundation, Mary’s career was in high tech, including  Vice President for Hewlett Packard, where she managed a $1Billion Enterprise Distribution business. Mary has a strong background in philanthropy. She is a former board member and current emeritus board member of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County.  She is a member of the Board of Fellows of Santa Clara University.
